All of a sudden, I can’t upload images to my library. This happened last week, and the maximum size of photo to upload had been changed, so I adjusted it, and it fixed the problem. Today, though, it came back.

Using multi-file upload, it stalls while crunching. Browser uploader, it thinks for a few seconds and then flips to a basic text on white background version of my website (weird). When I am actually looking at the image gallery and try to upload a new image, I get a red ERROR message in a pink box.

I tried changing the max photo size again, and also broadened the file permissions on the UPLOADS file on my hosting site.

the site is http://www.miltontimes.com, WP 4.0, running the WP-Prosper theme.

Plugins installed are Askimet, Code Embed, Easy Table, Instagram Slider Widget, Kebo Twitter Feed, NextGEN photo gallery by Photocrati, Simple Social Icons, Social Media Feather, Twine Social Widget, WordPress SEO by Yoast, WordPress Social Stream, and WP-Polls.

    Thanks a lot.

  • This can be due to the incompatibility issue of any plugin with WP 4.0. Try the following solution.

-Deactivate all plugins and then try to upload the images again.
-Activate each plugin and check if uploading images is working fine or not.

Before doing this it is advised to take the backup of the website.

    SOLVED!

Thanks so much; it was a plugin.

NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati was causing the problem. Once I deactivated it, uploads were fine.

    Very much appreciated.
