Post Title Not Showing

I cannot get the post title to show up on the page or to save in the posts. The posts just get a consecutive number assigned to them i.e. Post #25

In the manage posts section the posts show but with nothing in the title column, when I edit the post and put in a title and save it it says the changes were saved, but still there is no title either on the page or in the manage posts section, when I go back to edit again there is nothing in the title box.

Please help me!!!
