• I currently have a website http://www.mkmcapital.com.au/ that I am moving to wordpress.org. I am currently building the new site with wordpress on a local host and once I am finished I want to move my current URL to here.

I do not need to move the information from the current website, I just want to move the website address.

Please explain in as basic terms as possible.

    Hi,

That should be a simple process, what you need to do is log in to the control panel for the domain name (It’s registered with TPP Internet) and change the IP address the domain points to (your hosting provider should be able to provide you with this).

If you are uncertain about how to make those changes I’m sure they will be happy to help you if you ask them and are able to provide the IP address.

I would also recommend setting up either a landing page for the old content, or a redirect so that users who try to reach the old pages don’t just reach a page telling them the content no longer exists if you’ve just redesigned the site.

As I am currently using a local host to build the site where would I find the IP address for when I want to take it live?

That would be the IP provided by your hosting provider, most likely they will have a control panel where it is common to see your IP on the left hand side somewhere.
