    We’ve had CF7 on our site for the past year without trouble, but since the update, we’re having problems!

    The contact form works sometimes. Other times, it doesn’t. We can use the same info or unique info in filling out the forms – getting the error seems like it’s totally random. Super frustrating!

    We also recently moved from a Windows server to Linux, so we’re unsure whether the problem lies – with CF7 or our config.

    Any advice/help would be much appreciated!

    The error is most definitely with CF7.

    I tried:

    1. Uninstalling/Reinstalling CF7
    2. Deactivating/Reactivating Contact Forms DB
    3. Using FS Contact Form

    FS Contact Form worked perfectly…but I like CF7 better because it has a couple more functionalities that I need.

    It seems like the issue is happening when someone uses the same email to complete a form twice. Never used to do this, though!

    Intermittent problems indicate some email sending problems on your local WP install. This is usually due to email headers (in particular the From email address used) or email content.

    You will probably be mistaken if you focus on this happening since the last update – it’s most likely just a coincidence.

    I disagree with your conclusion that the “error is most definitely with CF7.”

    The “Failed to send message” is due to CF7 checking the email sending process (which occurs largely outside of both CF7 & WordPress) actually worked.

    Any problem your are having is likely to be due to something on your particular local WP install.

    It is true however that FS Contact Form uses some simplier form verification & email sending checking which is quite suitable for simple contact forms.

    If that is all you require and you don’t have the skills or time to solve your particular email sending issues, FS Contact Form could be your best option.

    Thanks for the tips, buzztone – updating the From headers to an address on our server did the trick!
