Hi themadproducer.
Could you please provide a link to your site so I can check this for you.
Many thanks
Peter
Peter,
Really cool to get your response.

I hope you can find the cause.

***I have a suggestion(s)***
What I originally wanted, quite simply, is a footer widget menu that is set up just the way it is on my site (without the menu expand button) and I find other plugins that come close but they don’t have the drop down arrow for CHILD links. And if they do, then they don’t allow the PARENT link to work. It’s usually one or the other…especially on a mobile device. BTW, yours esthetically looks better than the rest.
So you could consider adding the option to disable the menu button and have it static like mine and believe me, you would have the monopoly on that! (Instead of me doing the css hack manually)
Lastly,
To make your plugin totally dominate the competition, would you consider adding these operational features which I’ve seen these in other plugins:
– when a parent link is expanded, it will automatically close any other parent link that was previously expanded. I have seen this in action with other plugins.
– when a child link is clicked, the destination page opens with that parent menu automatically expanded. This would show the visitor the HIGHLIGHTED child link of the page they are currently in. BTW…it seems I have this feature enabled but it’s not working…it reads like this…
Auto Expand Current Parent Items
Tick if you would like to make the current pages children expanded automatically
Peter,
I just updated to v2.2 and holy COW!!!
Almost everything is working now.
Did you literally just fix the issue I listed above?
Either way, you can expect a small donation from me! Great work.
WORKING
– accordion animation of sub-menu (nice)
– auto expansion of sub-menu when on child page (yes)
– auto close of sub-menu when another sub-menu gets opened (superb)
– search (working perfect)
NOT WORKING
– can’t manually close sub-menu after opening (not a big deal on a desktop but would be better or convenient if it worked for mobiles so when a person expands a menu then changes their mind)
– parent of child menu whos page your currently on, is not highlighted (but since I have the Parent Link set to auto expand anyway, this feature is not needed anymore in this scenario)
Hey themadproducer,
Glad you like the new version and thanks for the offer of a donation, much appreciated!
In regards the 2 non-working points, I will try to explain:
1. You should be able to close sub-menus after opening. I have just looked at your site again at http://aslon.ca/ however and I can’t seem to see my plugin show up, there appears to be a different plugin installed?
2. It was decided that the Parent of child menu link would not be highlighted as this is not actually the current page you are on and got a bit confusing. It is advised as you have done to set the auto expand option.
Many thanks
Peter
Peter,
When you have a minute, take a look the http://aslon.ca/ site again. Your menu is in the Footer widget with shortcut, and has never left.
In my initial long winded message, I mentioned to you that I have your menu set so that there is no “3 line” button and the menu list is always open with ONLY Parent items showing. If you click the drop down arrow for “What We Do” which exposes the sub-menu child items, then click the “up” arrow, you will notice that the sub-menu closes but then immediately opens back up.
What do you think?
Thx
