Showing Date Only (Not Comment Numbers)

Wondering if it’s possible to instead of rotating between date and number of comments being displayed on the colored box at the top of a post, to only show the date.

Also, I’ve seen a request unanswered to having a full date added automatically to posts, such as “Posted by xxxx in xxx on October 24, 2014” – is this possible?
