Are you using any plugins on your comments?
Have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

My site ahs taken comments for years with no problems.. now the comments get entered but do not show…
So a post will read “11 comments”… but then there’s nothing there…
They show in the dashboard… they get emailed to me…they are being entered and they are in the system…How can I make them visible again???
