Sucuri Hardening, WP-Content and .htaccess

I use Sucuri Security and like to utilize the hardening features but the one that disallows access to the wp-content folder is making the dsIDXpress plugin not show the listing pictures. The Sucuri plug in says to remove the .htaccess files in the wp-content folder but I am hesitant to delete those as I am new to wordpress and dont want to crash my site. What can I do so that I can be protected but still allow the dsIDXpress plugin to work?
