Did you try contacting the plugin author? (I’m assuming this is a plugin)
- Clear the Polls Logs
- Change the Logging Method (in Poll Optiions) to logged by cookie or by Username (if you have users)
The primary config use Ip like logging method, one vote for IP.

right now it’s logging BOTH cookie AND IP. are you saying the problem goes away if i select just ONE or the other but not both?
never had this problem before till now. is it because it’s logging too much and it’s “clogging” up the system?
hi, it will not clogged the system, my live site has about 3.6k votes on a single poll and it is still functioning properly.
How many blog visitors have that problem? They might have switch computer, deleted their cookies and their IP may change depending of the type of connection.
OHHHH GamerZ, that makes a lot of sense.
BUT… logically, if their IP address changed or their cookies have been deleted, wouldn’t that actually mean that their computer would not be recognized, therefore the WP-Poll would certainly allow them to vote again instead of saying they had already voted (which is the issue)?

I think I know what’s going on, after looking at other types of Polls’ options (ie. “Democracy AJAX”, which I had before but stopped using.)
The reason why it tells my visitors that they’ve already voted when in fact they have NOT – is because they may be on shared IP addresses, possibly in a corporate network environment, and since my polls log by IP, it may recognize that the person had already voted.
So do you guys think maybe I should log by cookies instead? Will that pose the same problem? I DO want to log SOMETHING to prevent one person voting a million times. As much as I’d love to make my polls super popular 😛 I really want to keep all the votes valid cuz then, what’s the point, right? I can sit here and ramp up the votes myself. 😛

What if you change to Cookie and IP?

All they have to do is clear their cookies to vote again. It’s only a mouse click. Logging by IP is the best way to prevent this.

bah, logging by IP doesnt prevent multiple votes. its one click to change ip addys for most folks. it’s impossible to prevent someone from stuffing an online poll, unless you force them to authenticate somehow (e-mail address, maybe), and even then its easy enough to get e-mail addresses.
online polls are hardly meant to be scientific after all 🙂

Umm I think that the best method is vote by Username, but in this case only your users will be vote 🙁
By Ip you have the shared Ip problem, by cookie, the people can delete the cookies (but if your visitors are using IE, is probably that never delete the cookies)depend the kind of visitors do you have
