Woocommerce Superstore theme infinite scroll

I am designing a site using the Woocommerce Superstore theme and I am having an issue with the built in infinite scroll when the archive page is set to the static/homepage. If I remove the page from static, the infinite scroll works fine. I went though every setting that I can think of but no luck. Any idea why the scroll is disabled on the homepage and how I can fix it? Is this a wordpress setting rather than a theme setting?
