I have now tried it on a Windows 7 computer and an iMac. Not able to install themes on either…and on BOTH BLOGS
I have tried it in Safari and in Chrome
On OS X 10.9.5 and now OS X 10.10
and windows 7
I need to be able to use themes…this is a business account
I am having the exact same problem as you. Have you been able to find a solution yet?
No. The issue is still happening and I don’t have a resolution yet.
I couldn’t afford to wait around for a solution so I switched to a different web host and the issue doesn’t occur there.
Hi,
Any suggested reasons for this, or potential solutions? Getting the same error. I’ve recently updated to wordpress 4.0 with a view to updating my theme on geniebet.com, but get the exact same error as faisonlove had flagged. This happens for any attempted theme update.
I also set up a testing subdomain where I used an automated install via my hosting provider of wordpress 4.0, however the same error occurred on the test subdomain when I attempted to install any theme.
Download failed. error:0D0890A1:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_verify:unknown message digest algorithm
I guess that suggests an issue with my hosting, however they have come back with the below response:
As you have updated WordPress manually, there may be some compatibility issues with this installation it was it was installed through the Application Vault in the Control Panel.
I suggest that you check documentation on WordPress.org in order to install WordPress manually.
There are no compatibility issues on our shared servers with WordPress v.4.0
Any suggestions please?
Vinny
I had this problem and my hosting service recommended that I back everything up and install a new instance of WP and then import all the content. Then direct the domain name to this new site.
Gulp.
I am having this same problem with a freshly installed WordPress (V4.3) site. I am also seeing the problem when I try to install new plugins as well.
@sf The problem does seem to be on the server side. Send your hosting company a message including the error and see what they say. I manually updated one of the sites, but the errors remained. I am now upgrading the servers.
