• Hi I’m using Xampp local hostand when i’m trying to install a new therem I get the message that wordpress needs to access my webserver.
    hostname – ?
    FTP Username?
    FTP password?

There is no option for a local host connection.
I have been trying to resolve this issue for 2 days now and almost at the stage of throwing my mac out of the window! Please could someone help me go through this and explain what I need to do next.
I believe I have to edit the wp-config-php file? which I edited when installing WP in Xampp?
    Thanks

i’m trying to install a new therem

    What’s “therem”?

I get the message that wordpress needs to access my webserver

Is it possible to quote the exact message?

Have you checked server error logs for more specific error message?

    A couple questions:

    – did you install WP within XAMPP using the BitNami WP Module or did you install it manually?

    – if you used the BitNami module, did you select Development Settings or Production Settings for the Installation type?

It would appear that you used the Production settings as the notes for that type on the selection screen indicate that certain plugins and themes may require manual changes.

Alternatively, I use MAMP on the Mac 🙂

    Hi Thanks for your response.
I installed wordpress manually. I tried using MAMP initially but kept experiencing errors so uninstalled it and then downoaded XAMPP.

I’ve uninstalled wordpress and reinstalled using the BitNami module. There seemed to be no option to download WP with development settings or Production settings. I did however, see a WP development plugin? Is that what you’re referring too?
