wpautop for text

my client put breaks into the text that was overlaying on the images which have disappeared in v 0.51. I am not sure how that may have happened but suspect that wpautop has been removed or some other function/filter? I have added this to line 343 like so $slide_content = wpautop(get_the_content()). Maybe this could be added via the shortcode options?
