  • talk to your host — thats something they need to deal with.

    hi,
    thanks for the reply

i have just called the host server provider, they told me that this might be a hack. They asked me to recover the wp_posts table on my own, which i really have no idea how to do it.

is this really a hack? or they are just trying to bybass the problem…

They may be right. If you have a backup, you might need to restore it.

Are you on Dreamhost? This seems to be a fairly regular error on their servers. Your host – whoever that may be – needs to deal with this. IF you have a recent backup of your database, you’re probably not in bad shape. If you don’t, and they insist they can’t help you, it looks like you’re screwed.

This IS a host problem, not a wp one.

    hi,

i am using Netfirms as my host. well, the tech support is horrible. i had an bad experience with them.
i do have a backup SQL file. but it was way back on Aug of 2006…
so i guess i will lost all the posts which i have posted on my blog after that previous backup date?
damn….7 months of blogging is all gone in a day
should start to backup my databases weekly……

thank you all for the help!

please let me know if there is still a way to restore my blogs before i do something stupid to my site.

Ugh. Netfirms…. better dreamhost, and that’s saying a LOT.

So, can you get a current backup dump of your database? I don’t know how Netfirms handles that. If you can’t get it yourself through phpmyadmin, INSIST that tech support get one for you. Gormless idiots, those guys, but keep after them.

Now, regardless what else happens, go to google for your site – the cached version. You should be able to get some posts back (copy n paste) using that. Then look up the Wayback Machine, and see how you can go about finding your site in it and see if you can get back some of your posts using that.

    hi guys,

    the problem is solved!!!

i called the tech support again to see if i have any more luck to reach other tech that actually knows how to resolve this problem. This guy who answered my call went into phpmyadm for me right after i explained the problem to him. The problem solved within 10 secs. he said the wp_posts is crashed, and there is this tool under the phpmyadm that does the repair. He also mentioned that he has never seen anything like this before.
So now everything is back on! i am so happy that i made this phone call again after i had a really bad conversation with other technician hour ago.

Well i guess netfirms is not so bad! haha~

once again, thank you all for the help!
    much appreciated!

Hmm. Well, VERY glad it’s fixed for you. Suggestion: next time you need something a bit more complex than adding a new email address with netfirms, when you call them, insist whoever answers the phone transfer you immediately to a supervisor, and when you reach a supervisor, insist that you be transferred immediately to a second-tier support tech.
