    Hi all, just downloaded the latest P2 theme with the latest WP (4.0).

    Everything is running great, but I’d like to know how I can allow anyone to post, without registering.

    Thanks

    Hi there, P2 by design does not allow non-registered users to post, and the reason for this is that if the spammers find your site, they can in very quick order eat all of your bandwidth spamming your site and cause you huge amounts of work in trying to delete all of them. Posts are not run through Akismet or any of the spam filters. My opinion: Opening your site up for everyone to post on = bad idea.

    However, this was posted here in the forums a few years ago and I have no idea if it works, or still works. I would suggest working this out on a local install or a separate test site first so that you don’t inadvertently take your main site down. At the very least, create and work on a child theme so that you can quickly switch back to the unaltered theme in case things go awry.

    @scaredpath, thanks for the response.

    As you suggested, for now, I’ve decided to go for the regular registration-required route.
