• Hey guys, I’m currently in the process of setting up a website for my scout group using wordpress. However I would like each section to have its own wordpress pages in its own folders. I don’t know if its too clear yet so I’ll try and demonstrate

http://www.scoutwebsite.com – Would be the Groups news
http://www.scoutwebsite.com/beavers – Would be Beavers posts
http://www.scoutwebsite.com/Scouts – Would be Scout posts

How to do this? Use catergories or make seperarte installations of wordpress in each folder? Or does wordpress feature multiblogs running off one engine?

Thanks guys hope you can help

  • Were it me…

I’d have one installation with three categories.

The default category would be Group News
    then have a Beavers category
    anda scouts category.

Then when making posts check the appropriate category(categories) that the post should be visible in.
Then I’d set the front page up only to show posts marked as Group News.

Ermmmm ok I’m not overly confident with how to do this?

Do I just make copys of the index page and place them in other folderS?

No. I installation of wordpress. When you log into the admin panel, you can create categories. Make on category for the group, one for beavers and one for scouts.

Be sure when posts are written that the proper category is selected.

I would recommend you install wordpress once and play with it so you know what you’re doing. Find out what all the happy buttons do.
