• I followed the upgrade instructions to a T to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.1.2 EXCEPT writing over the default theme folder. I put a lot of work in the css and different files.

Anyhow it’s working fine no issues. Is this ok? What files are exactly changed in the default theme for 2.1.2? Is it totally necessary?

  • Nothing is changed in the default theme so that won’t be a problem.

The WordPress default theme has changed so you will want to upload the wp-content/themes/default folder. If you have custom changes to the default theme, those changes will need to be reviewed and installed after the upgrade.

Taken from http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress . What exactly? Is it necessary?

Wasn’t that for the 2.1 upgrade?

I’m pretty sure nothing changed from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2.

The affected files were in wp-includes.

So in other words, if the only folder I didn’t replace/overwrite is the wp-content/themes/default folder then I am ok?

And that the quoted instructions in my last post were ultimately for the 2.1 upgrade?
