SO yesterday I went to wordpress.com, bought a domain name, and bought a theme. I thought I could customize it and selfhost on hostgator. Nope. So everyone on WordPress.COM said to come here for help.

I want to keep my domain name, possibly the theme if possible. How do I get everything over to HostGator so I can add plugins and ads?

I did the quickinstall on HostGator but the dashboard looks just like wordpress.COM not customization. What am I missing here?

Well like on my other site I used AdWords, which I need to be able to use. Also social media plugins, more design options, etc.

Like the link above, where it says PlugIns, i just want to have that menu. The theme I bought has cool features that are restricted on wordpress.com

I guess the nameserver change hasn’t proprgateg yet since the dashboard doesnt have the plugin submenu?

You mentioned you installed WordPress on HostGator? Then you should already have the “link above” where you can see the Plugin submenu for you to add plugins to your theme (such as Adwords functionality) or also upload your theme.

The nameserver change (I’m assuming you’re pointing your WP.com domain name to your HostGator webhosting) only affects the public facing site, not what you see when you log into the admin panel of WP
