Site title issues

    Hello! My name is Richard, and this is my first post on here. But now, on to the important stuff. I run a music blog, Edge Music News (http://www.edgemusicnews.com/), and since I’ve updated to 4.0, the title of my site (what shows up on top, ex WordPress > Support) has dissapeared and turned into the not-good-looking “www.edgemusicnews.com”. I would like to change that back to “Edge Music News – EdgeMusicNews.com” but whenever I try with my SEO plugin, and in Settings > General, it doesn’t change the main pages title, but the one on the admin console.

    Hello!
    Glat to have you over support forums.
    Have you tried this?

    WPAdmin –> Appearance –>Customize –> Site Title and Tagline.

    Please let me know if that works for you.

    This could be an issue with your theme. You could check the “header.php” file for your theme and see what is in the “<title></title>” tag.

    Hi, jtleathers!

    That did it. I edited the text in between <title> and </title> to Edge Music News, and that is showing up as the title.

    While that is an improvement, it’s definitely not the fix you want. The problem with that is that now every page on your website is going to have the same title which will hurt you with regards to SEO and isn’t particularly helpful to your users.

    Do you know what code I should set that back to? I can do some more research then 🙂

    I use the code below and Yoast SEO to configure my page titles. Hopefully that helps a bit.

    <title><?php wp_title( '|', true, 'right' ); ?></title>
