• I use the JetPack popular posts widget on my blog (www.wanderinglawyer.com) as well as a static front page setup.

Recently the widget has started to count my front page among the popular posts, listing the page name for the static page I’m using (“Wandering Lawyer”). Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to disable it?

    Thanks!

  • Hi wanderinglawyer,

I haven’t seen an official setting to specifically block pages or even certain pages from appearing.

You might try the plugin suggested by kishan112 in this forum topic. I haven’t tried it myself, but that plugin apparently blocks all pages from appearing in the widget, instead showing only posts.

Actually, there may be an easier solution still. I just noticed this:

In the widget admin area, go to the Top Posts widget and next to the widget’s Save button is a Visibility button.

Here you get fine control over what shows up.

In your case, you might set visibility to the following if you only want to block your front page:

“Hide” if: “Page” is “Front page”

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Ash,

Thanks for getting back to me! Sadly “Visibility” just effects which pages the widget appears on, not what it shows. It’s a new feature in Jetpack for all widgets.

Ah, you’re totally right about that. I was thinking about it backwards.

Hopefully the plugin in the forum topic linked above will be of some use to you.
