    Yes, you can do this with the Slideshow Gallery plugin.

    You’ll use these parameters:

    featured [ true | false ] = Show posts with their featured images
    featurednumber [ number ] = A numeric/integer value. The default is 10
    featuredtype [ post_type ] = A post type slug like ‘post’, ‘page’, etc. The default is ‘post’

    For example:

    [tribulant_slideshow featured="true" featurednumber="5" featuredtype="post"]

    Unfortunately there is no category parameter/attribute in the shortcode yet. I’m adding this to our development list so that we can add it.
