  • G’day ohiodoc

The easiest way to do this will be to use a plugin. There are a number of great MailChimp plugins, like MailChimp for WordPress http://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/

This will allow you to add a sign-up form using a shortcode, rather than modifying your theme template code.

Simply find, depending on how your theme works, where you can add text to the header (I’m guessing you want it under the current text ‘The Live-Auction Creates Competition And Records Are Broken In Competition!’).

That said, depending on the theme, you may not be able to add short codes to that section.

Let me know how you go, and I’ll try to help further.

well the issue with that is i don’t have a widget for the header of my theme where my clients wants to put the form at so it makes it harder. and they don’t want a pop up

    That’s ok, ohiodoc.

A Widget goes in a predefined Widget, but the beauty of a shortcode, is that it can go pratically anywhere you can put text!

the MailChimp for WordPress plugin I’ve linked to above allows you to use the shortcode [mc4wp_form] in Pages and Posts to display the MailChimp form.

It all depends how your theme deals with the content you place in the header, as to whether it’ll process the shortcode properly.

    It’s worth a shot!

but the theme i am using doesn’t have a widget section for my header. other wise it would be easy to do.

No worries. We don’t need a Widget are for shortcodes to work.

Where did you enter the text ‘The Live-Auction Creates Competition And Records Are Broken In Competition!’

Is it in the Title area of the Edit Page screen, or is it in a larger area further down the page?

i want to put the form below that text

    (@ohiodoc)

can i put the short code where that text is at?

Possibly, it all depends on how your theme works, and I can’t really know without getting in there myself.

Definitely give it a go, if you can find where to edit that text.

well it is just the general tag line, can your email me so I can give you more info so I can get this done

Ah, if it’s the one found under Settings > General > Tagline, then no, you won’t be able to put a shortcode in there. Sorry.

Unless your theme gives you further ways to customise the header section of the site, you’re stuck with only the Tagline.

It’d definitely be possible to modify your theme to accomplish this, using a child theme – but that’s beyond the scope of this forum, I’d say. You might be able to contact the theme developer and ask for their assistance, or find a freelance developer to do this for you.

You can always use the shortcode system and put it in a section further down the page, though I understand that’s not what you ideally want.

Please let me know if I can help further.

@ohiodoc Please do not ask other forum members to contact you outside of the forums. That’s something that is actively discouraged, as well as other’s asking for your contact details.

Note that I’m not accusing anyone of any ill will. But please keep it on the forums.

ok thanks, unfortunately, my clients wants it in the blue area

    Thanks, Jan.

Sorry, it seems I can’t help you modify your theme, ohiodoc.

Try contacting the theme developer, you’ll likely have more luck there.
