• Hi Folks

    – Looking for some insight on the best way to build a WP site without taking down my clients existing site.

I would like to be able to share with the client the new site.

I have never had any luck with using different domain names.

I do own my own webservers if that helps.

    Thanks…TimothyPaul

  • Are you trying to completely redo your client’s site? If this is the case, just either create a subdomain or use local development.

Hmm – so I just created a DNS entry

test.domainname.com pointing to a different IP on another server.

    Is that what you mean?

    THanks….TP

No, what I meant by creating a subdomain is if you already have a site at http://www.example.com then you can create a subdomain such as: http://test.example.com of which it has its own WordPress install so you can redo the client’s site without affecting the live site and it will be easier for the client to view the new site.
