  • @northernmonkeyz, I don’t know what you mean when you talk about “posting to category method”, but installing NextGEN doesn’t involve your posts in any way.
Surely if you want those 60+ images displayed with NextGEN you will need to upload them as NextGEN galleries, and you can display them where you want it, those same posts or whatever post or page.

    Thanks @tizz!

@northernmonkeyz – It would definitely help to have a bit more details on your workflow to better understand what you are trying to accomplish.

    Thanks for the 2 replies.
Sorry I should have explained it better.
At present I am using a free theme – http://dessign.net/simple-photo-responsive-theme/

    My site – http://www.alanwattphotography.com/

As you can see I have the following categories –

    • Landscape
    • Waterscape
    • Street
    • Urban Art
    • Abstract

When I upload a new image I go to post/add new and upload the new image to media, name it and insert it into the correct menu category e.g ‘Street’

I have something like 60 posts each with an image being linked to the appropriate category.

Ideally what I want is to have the following
    PORTFOLIO – CONTACT – BLOG – LINKS
    STREET
    LANDSCAPE
    ABSTRACT

So if you look at my site I want to do away with the –

    • Landscape
    • Waterscape
    • Street
    • Urban Art
    • Abstract

And have all of the above as drop down sub categories instead.

    Is this possible with Nextgen?

Lastly do I need to delete all my posts and start again?

Sorry but I am new to this and have tried to figure it on (honest).

    Cheers,
    Al

@northernmonkeyz – NextGEN Gallery manage your images not your post / page / site structure and layout … I think there may be a bit of confusion in that aspect.

You might see some benefits to using album / sub-albums / galleries to structure your images being displayed and you will be able to upload images into NextGEN Gallery then pick single images from there using the Add Media button as well.

Adding NextGEN Gallery to your site will add additional functionality to how you work with images but I do not believe it will replace your current workflow as I understand it from your description.
