slavallee,
You are correct. You cannot share a closed groups posts. The reason a group is closed is to not make the information public. With that being said there is no way to share a closed groups api with are plugin as far as we are aware of.
I faced the same issue. Facebook does not currently let you change your group from closed to public if it has more than 250 members (which is very annoying as they actually made us make it private a few years ago, you HAD to do that for groups of a certain size! We never wanted to be private! grrr)
I’ve used Wallflux and it’s working quite well. They export your group posts to an RSS feed then you can use this in a number of ways (not sure if you can use it with this particular plugin but certainly in other ways). You have to pay a one time fee of 5 euros (approx. $6) for handling this.
(Note I am not associated with this company/the people at Wallflux, just a user who is passing on a suggestion)
Hope that helps.
PinkishHue,
Sorry for the troubles! Facebook has policies that do not allow us to get a closed groups information unfortunately. It seems as though they are buckling down on it too these last few months.
The best option is to contact Facebook Support directly. They are really responsive and I’m sure would be able to handle changing your groups type.
We’ve known about wallflux since we started doing this. At the time that it was created I don’t believe the policy was as strict. Our Facebook Feed uses Graph API and is not able to access the closed information. Changing the feed to work with RSS would be a HUGE task and most likely not work with most of the features we offer.
Hopefully Facebook will make changing a groups type much easier in the future!
Thanks for using Feed Them Social
@tdings74
Thanks for suggesting and No offense if you work for SocialFeeds but that site looks terrible and I tested just an open group. It didn’t even work with that. I suggest Wallflux over that any day.
cheers
