Using Events Manager with UPME

I am considering using the UPME plugin (User Profiles Made Easy). I’m looking for a simple way to manage users so they can register for events using the Events Manager plugin.My site is currently set up so the option for users to register for an event is restricted to Subscriber level (or above).
But the problem is that I don’t want to use the WordPress login setup – I want to manage the users completely separately. It appears that UPME will do this for me, but how would I tell Events Manager to only show those ‘register for event’ options to UPME-logged-in users? Is there some way of setting my site to regard someone who’s logged in with UPME as a WordPress Subscriber? Or would the conditional
{logged_in}content{/logged_in}code be able to recognise if someone’s logged in via UPME?Or does anyone have any better suggestions for managing users?
