@adammichael – If you see this as a conflict with “Simple fields” have you looked at what is actually causing the problem there and possibly adjusting that plugin?
Have you checked with that plugin author to see if they are aware of this issue as well, perhaps they are already working on an update that will fix this issue.

Interestingly, when I turn off nextgen gallery area, and then click on the button again, all is right…
maybe its something bad on page load?
@adammichael – As you are describing it, I would suspect something may still be creating a conflict as by default that modal window should pop-up in the middle of you screen.
There may be something causing it to load incorrectly, which in most cases would likely be a plugin conflict which you alluded to as a possibility with “Simple fields”
There could also be some sort of caching of scripts/CSS that may create this issue as well, again most likely falling back to a plugin conflict.

@photocrati – I finally found that the problem has nothing to do with Nextgen gallery, bc continues with other plugins with popups in administration… One of my plugins must doing this mistake…
