do pingbacks work with post edits?

    Hello,
    I edited a post that was already published. In the post I added a permalink URL for a pingback (to another wordpress blog).
    Will this create a pingback, or are they only made when my post is first published?

    The reason I ask is because I don’t see any evidence of the pingback…
