• Hi all,

I would like to know what the best protocol is for building a WordPress site to replace an existing html site.

Would there be anything wrong with installing WordPress on the root of the site, then building all the content on the site, and then removing the current index.html file so that the WordPress version of the site becomes live in one quick step.

Can anyone let me know if this will cause any problems or it Google may not like it because of duplicate content.

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • I am doing the same thing myself (replacing html site with wordpress) and I set up a subdomain to develop on, installed the wordpress there and will do the redirect once completed.
