5.1.5>5.1.6 update "could not copy file" error
-
This happened to me on the 5.1.4>5.1.5 update and I was hoping it would be resolved on the 5.1.5>5.1.6 update, but it has not.
When I try to update wordfence through my wordpress plugins dashboard, I get an error message:
An error occurred while updating Wordfence Security: Could not copy file. wordfence/screenshot-5.png
Multiple attempts result in the same error message, but with a different image file as the culprit each time. My only recourse last time was to manually download the wordfence update and manually upload it to my server via ftp. That’s what I did get get the 5.1.5 update to “take” and the same now with the 5.1.6 update.
After doing the manual ftp wordfence update, a wordfence scan confirms the update is in place.
This is a new issue that only started to occur with the last two updates. All previous updates since November 2013 worked for me without issue. I should add that I do have the new-ish automatic update box checked, but that auto update doesn’t seem to be working as I get an email from wordfence telling me I need to update.
I see a few others on the forum here with the same issue, so I know it’s not simply something unique on my particular site. I do have another site using wordfence, using the same WP theme, and it is not having this issue and auto update is working without any problems there.
Thank you for any advice you may have.
