Hi there, great plugin.

I have a lot of robots lately trying to hack my site by trying the username “admin”. Obviously I’ve long since changed my admin name but it’s still annoying to have these things happening. I wonder – could there be a way to blacklist certain usernames like “admin” “administrator” etc… so that entering them once permanently bans you?

It looks like this other plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/security-protection/ is blocking all users with the name “admin”.

There may be some good ideas there to help development.

Hmm…. looks like a good one. Doesn’t seem like quite the idea above. What would be ideal would if to totally block the IP of anyone who tries “admin” for like a week. No access to the site in any way.

Wow – looks like that latest update has now incorporated this feature. Thanks!!!

One question – how long does it block someone for? Is it the same number (in minutes) that the regular intruders are blocked?

Hey All,

Yes, the new feature blocks them for they same amount of time as the others. The reason we don’t permanently ban them is it would turn very resource hungry. And from past experience these bots usually don’t stick around too long.
