The recent posts will only show images if you’ve set a featured image. It appears you did not.
It seems you activated the slider but you haven’t configured it. Go to Customize > Slider and configure it, but it will require that your posts have featured images set.

That way you can share links to images of your theme settings without asking anyone to log into you installation.

I might not understand this correctly, but you don’t actually have a problem. You just didn’t set featured images for your posts. Do that and you’ll see the slider working and the images on the blog index.

I think you mean the Recent Posts widget? You’re not using the right one, you need to use the one called Solon: Recent Posts.

Is the slider a feature to Solon anymore? I placed a featured image attached to the post but still no dice in regard to the slider and the thumbnail to recent posts?
