• I’ve tried using {description} and {excerpt} for the default value of the twitter card’s “twitter:description” value and both times these variables are printed to screen rather than interpreted. How can I specify that the default “twitter:description” should be the {excerpt} or {description} of the post?

I’m using the Twitter card validator at https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/validation/validator to verify the changes. My site has already been approved by twitter for use of cards. My only problem is that the required “twitter:description” field is always blank (or prints the variable name). How can I make this field be default populated with the post’s excerpt or description, using the same way as the OG works with Facebook?

Also, is it possible to automatically grab an image url and use it for “twitter:image” just like how it’s selected for the Facebook OG integration?

    thanks,
    Jim

    Hi James:

Please excuse late reply (due to knee surgery and being offline). Regarding your question,{description} and {excerpt}are for Permalink Tweaker Module only.

You can set a default twitter card under OpenGraph > Default Values Tab > then upload the image you want to appear. To add individual twitter card images on posts, you can do that under the page or post under the Social Media Tab and upload or en masse in the OpenGraph Integrator module (however, there is no mass upload feature there).

Before I answer this ” My only problem is that the required “twitter:description” field is always blank (or prints the variable name). How can I make this field be default populated with the post’s excerpt or description, using the same way as the OG works with Facebook?” – Let me check with my developer first on something ok.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Jeffrey
