    Hello!

I admit i’m quite new to wordpress, but very eager to learn ^^

I installed the multi language switch plugin (created a network first, which is -suprisingly- running quite well) Activated the plugin for each single site.

But how do i actually use the mls plugin now? Cos i only have one flag (little US flag) and nothing else. Can’t connect pages either and nothing is shown on my actual website (frontend).

I’m sure i overlooked something super simple, but right now i’m quite lost.

Thanks a lot for your help and support!

    Hi,

you must setup the languages in your blogs too. Read on here: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    Hello again!

Yep, i overlooked something quite simple. ^^

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Dennis!

I read through the recommended pages (and some more).
Do i get that right: i have to install more language packs (currently just english, so therefore german and russian) in my wp-content folder (and do some more changes in wp-config.php)?

Thanks a lot for your support!

    Hi,

just install the language packs for the WordPress core and then (no need to modify the wp-config.php) set the language in “Settings > General” in every blog.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    Hi Dennis!

Sorry to bother you again, but where do i find the german and russian language packs for the WordPress core? All i can find is how to CHANGE the language of my wordpress dashboard, but i don’t want to change the language (esepcially not the dashboard language) but simply add two more on order to run the multisite lan.switcher plugin?!

Thanks a lot, your help is much much appreciated!

Just change the language of the blogs. You should then install the plugin “Native Dashboard” if you prefer the dashboard in another language when.

    From the FAQ section: 😉

But I’d like the interface to stay in English.

You could check out the plugin Native Dashboard.

Dennis, i am dreadfully sorry, but i’m totally lost now.

First you say i should “just install the language packs for the WordPress core” and now you say i should “Just change the language of the blogs”?

Under ‘Settings > General’ is no option to change language, there is only

    Site Title:
    Tagline:
    E-mail Address:
    Timezone:
    Date Format:
    Time Format:
    Week Starts On:

I am really sorry for being such a true beginner at wordpress!

    Hey Dennis!

Sorry i didn’t answer back. Well, but to be fair for a true beginner like me it’s just not solvable, so i gave up.
‘Installing language packs in the wordpress core’ is still a mystery to me, i have no idea how to do it, starting with where to get these language packs from and where to eventually put them.
I’m truly sorry! But as a true beginner i probably might have needed a step-by-step manual.

    Thanks nevertheless for your help!

It might be much easier if you would use an actual version of WordPress which is already localized. The German installation for example where the language files are already for the specific language are included. But – of course – all this can be a little bit difficult at the beginning. WordPress 4.0 will maybe a little bit easier for things like that…

Yes, to be fair i was wondering why the english WP version only comes with the english language file, while the german version apparently brings along more language packages automatically with the installation.

Since i still need different languages for the blog i probably will delete everything and start from scratch with the german version.

Thank nevertheless for you support and help!
    All the best,
    Aileen
