Spam comments with no ID

My blog requires registration before posting comments, but I still get spam (sometimes over 100 a day – and mainly of a very nast nature) in the moderation queue that is not related to any registered user (at least no registered Name is shown, only the link and IP address. Any ideas on why this might be, and how it can be stopped would be appreciated.
