Facebook Like from html to WordPress?

    Extreme WordPress newbie here.

    I’m converting a products section from my non-Wordpress site into WordPress posts. The original pages have the standard Facebook like buttons in place. I’d like to keep the totals on them. I’ve simply copy/pasted the code from the buttons into the new WordPress posts and it seems to work. Is there a better way, or will this be OK?

    Looking at the code more closely, I realized it wouldn’t retain my likes. The code was referencing the original html page. When I changed it to reference the new WordPress page, the likes zeroed out. Any way to transfer those likes from one page to another??
