Stock display (including variations)?

I have two issues, both related to stock display.
1. Back end: Is there any way to show the total stock each product has including variations? (eg. Let’s say product ABC has 10 variations and each variation has 5 in stock. Is there a way to see that product ABC has 50 units in stock? Or which product has the lowest stock or highest stock)
2. Front end: I have put up the attributes widgets on the shop page. My site uses two attribute: style and size. Let’s say a customer selects style as boys and size as large. All the products with the variation boys large show up.
But many of these variations are out of stock. How can I restrict the display to show only products with that variation that is in stock?
