• Hi, I just wanted to let you know about VersionPress, our new Git-versioning plugin for WordPress. The main feature is storing the whole site in a Git repository, files AND the database, which enables many things that are were relatively hard to do before (undo some actions like plugin updates, merge changes from staging environment into live etc.). Generally, it is designed to make WP admin’s experience much smoother and safer.

You can check out the project at [moderated]

I’d be curious to know what you think about it. Please leave us a comment below and obviously if you like it, please share it. It will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Is this a GPL project?

Hi esmi, the license is undecided yet (for more on that, please refer to the FAQ). VersionPress is at a very early stage, we just need to know what people think and that will influence its future.

    Thanks.

I’m sorry but we can only allow the promotion of GPL projects here. Once the license has been decided and assuming that it is GPL, please feel free to advertise here then.

Ok, thanks, I understand. And sorry if the post was against rules – I certainly didn’t mean to violate them.

No problem. It happens. If you do decide to go with a non-commercial GPL release, we’d be happy to hear about it. If it remains a commercial plugin, then actively promoting here could be a little problematic.
