    Hi there!
    We have ithemes security 4.2.6
Within the last 2-3 weeks, we have been getting TONNES of 404 errors. Approximately 300 in under 24 hrs.

Most of them are connected to Timely ALl in One Calendar OR wp-login.

Is this a bug that needs to be fixed? Before the switch to ithemes, we were getting some errors. Then after the switch to ithemes, we weren’t getting any 404 errors at all.

I am concerned about the security of the site.

    Our site is http://www.greyhighlandspubliclibrary.com:

Thank you for all of your help!

  • This plugin simply tracks 404 errors, and allows you to ban hosts that get too many 404 errors. Hackers look for various ways to access your site, trying different pages and URLs, including wp-login.

Unless you get locked out or visitors report they get locked out, this is working as expected based on what you wrote.

As for Timely plugin. I would investigate what actually causes those 404s and either report to developer to fix it, or setup my own redirects to prevent 404s piling up.

I would also clear your log after you review 404s. So it doesn’t get too big.

    Thank you so much Viktor.
I have contacted Timely, but haven’t received a response as of yet.

I am new to WordPress, but fairly capable. Could you please enlighten me on how to do redirects?

And yes, I am definitely clearing my log.

    Thank you so much,
    KS

You can either use Simple 301 Redirects plugin to do it inside your dashboard, or add redirects inside htaccess file.

    Redirect 301 /old-url-here/ http://domain.com/new/url/here

    That’s a basic redirect.

Thank you Viktor. I’ll try the plugin.

I’m not comfortable touching the htaccess file yet.

    Thanks!
