Nested link inside caption causes bracket link code duplication

    In markup that includes an image with a caption with a link, placed using the WP Media Manager, the resulting code always results in a duplicated link code:

    [caption]…. [1][1] a link here [/caption]

    so a partial link number code and single bracket are displayed in the caption.

    Does MarkDown not support captions that include links?
