• Dear wordpress

The email address wordpress@home.greenfeatherwine.com is bombarding me in spam fashion with notifications of new comments to be approved on posts on the greenfeatherwine blog. Those supposed comments then do not appear in the comments to be approved section on the website, so don’t know where these spam comments are supposed to be. I have nevertheless stopped all comment functions on the website and have installed all possible spam plug ins, including captcha.

None of this has any effect. I am at the end of all my friends’ collective IT wisdom and am close to shutting everything down. My hosting provider has also not managed to stop those emails and has told me this needs to be dealt with at the wordpress end.

Please can you do something to stop those emails. Thank you.

  • The WordPress end is your site/server. There is nothing anyone here can do to stop your site sending you emails.

First thing to do is gain access to your site’s server and mail logs. You need to establish where these phantom comments originate and the log files is the very first place to start looking. You may have access to them through your hosting panel.
