Updating old WP version, no Child Theme

    I am about to update a pretty old WordPress website, build in version 3.4.2

    This website was build without using a childtheme.
    I am not updating the theme itself, however I do want to make sure if updating is risky or not.
    I have made a back-up anyhow of all files + database, anything else I should think of before updating?

    As you have such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details. Your theme should not be affected by the update – although it may not be compatible with the latest version of WordPress.
