I installed WordPress 3.9 my institution’s server. Tecnicians can’t solve the problem. When I wanted to add new plugins, there appeared a message below. How can I solve this problem.

Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in D:\htdocs\atikhom\wp-admin\includes\plugin-install.php on line 77

    Thank you for your help.

  • The relevant part of that message is:

WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org

Your site is failing to connect to WordPress.org over SSL which is usually indicative of a server configuration problem. Maybe curl isn’t compiled with SSL or the HTTPS root certificates are missing or invalid.

Thank you so much. Do you know how this problem can be solved?

    Speak to these guys:

    Tecnicians can’t solve the problem

    It’s a server issue.

You could also try this https test plugin from Automattic’s Dion Hulse.
