• I have a problem with the plugins and I am talking to my host to see if it is a firewall issue. So they are asking me which ports the plugins are attempting to access.

Can anyone help me with this one?

    Thanks.

Hi LesBessant, thanks for being willing to help.

I have been trying to activate some contact form plugins such as wp-contact, intouch, contact form ][ etc. Every time I try to activate them the pages go blank – both Admin pages and Blog pages. When i delete the plugin everything goes back to normal.

So I am trying to see if it is the firewall… any advice?

    Thanks!

if pages go blank, that’s generally a code issue, a php error. nothing to do with firewalls. And the things you mentioned generally don’t ‘do much’ in terms of network traffic that might hit a firewall until ‘used’, so just activating them wouldn’t be a firewall-related issue.

sometimes compatability issues between plugins, plugin and wp version, or plugin and PHP version/settings.

If you’re using wp version 2.0.5, you might need to install the “fix-it” plugin from Mark Jaquith: http://markjaquith.wordpress.com/2006/10/28/some-wordpress-205-users-reporting-server-500-error/#comment-5826

That’s the thread on his site with all the info re the problems people are having. Somewhere on there is a link to the plugin itself.
