Suggesting an enhancement for the Events Widget – allow me to specify Category ID as follows:
0 – display all
1,5,9 – display only 1 5 & 9
PLUS
!7,!85 – display all but not 7 and not 85 NEW

hmm, this should be possible already at WP Appearance > Widgets > Events widget > Category IDs

Ok… Tested with -7 and seems to work. Thanks. Might want to change the form display to show this as an option,
