The updated visual editor in WordPress 3.9 should be able to handle copied and pasted text from a MS Word document without issue. Thus they removed the previous “Copy from Word” button.
If this functionality is not working for you, you may have a theme or plugin issue that needs to be tracked down. To do this, disable all themes and plugins (use a default theme like twentythirteen). Test and confirm everything works. Then add in and enable your custom theme. Test and confirm everything works. If not, contact the theme developer for support. Then enable your plugins one at a time, testing your site after each plugin. If something doesn’t work, not which plugin you last enabled and contact the plugin developer for support. At the end of this, you should have either resolved the issue or have a good idea of where the issue is coming from.
