Um. And if you’re trying to tweak the “default” theme…. how about “don’t”…. go to http://themes.wordpress.net, pick one of the hundreds of wonderful themes there, and tweak THAT one.

Someday…. (not holding breath….) – and of course, if it weren’t the “default” it MIGHT be “two quick questions”….
The “default” theme included with wp, and upon which your site is based, is the most UNCUSTOMIZABLE theme ever foisted upon the unsuspecting.
And I cleaned that up. Please take a look at the themes at the site I linked to earlier. Got to be something there that will be far closer to what you envision, and that can be more easily tweaked so it IS what you envision.
Tweaking the Default theme is more than two quick anything.
Even an experienced theme tweaker generally has problems changing basic things like HEADER and BACKGROUND COLOR.
Vkaryl’s suggestion of finding a nice theme available via her link will save you endless hours of tweaking.

i thought i could replace something in the header with the link of the header i have no hosted… thought i could easily put up my banner by doing that in the header’s folder.
Can’t help you there. Supposedly? Maybe. No one I know has ever succeeded in doing that “easily”.
Easiest thing? Pick another theme.
