Go to WordPress.com and register, and you’ll get your API key.
Note that you don’t have to actually register for a blog there – you can simply register as a “user” to get the API key.

The one I want API for is
http://www.thousandsketches.com/blog
But I assumed the API from the older blog was ok, and it would seem so.
Yeah, you can reuse it for whatever…. at least so far.
none of this makes sense. i have a WP hosted blog with Akismet already installed and activated. i cannot find the api key anywhere. i tried the register with wordpress.com etc but obviously my blog url doesnt link in with the new wordpress.com api which is just a username registration,
i have seached through all the posts on this topic but still cannot figure out where this api key is – its certainly not in my profile!
