Wrong site? wordpress.org
Hace a look at wordpress.com
You may also need to install a plugin from Technosailor.
Use the export feature on your WP.com blog then use the plugin to import it. I used it about a week ago with no problems. The only down side is anything in your sidebar (lonks etc) will have to be recreated in your WP.org blog.
A small price to gain all the options available with your own hosted blog.
Marc nailed it. That plugin is really the way to go for moving from a WP.COM hosted blog to your own hosted blog.
Thank you guys, i hope that these plugin import the complete archives of posts and comments,i had already found online,I read that the plugin was for WP 1.5.X, on my host i have WP 2.0.5,does work ? Mmm,now i try.. 😉
My import was to a newly loaded version 2.0.5.
It successfully loaded all my posts and comments.
Where at wordpress.com do you locate the exporter?
Dashboard -> ???
For the other blindies out there:
Dashboard -> Manage -> Export
🙂
The plugin is no longer needed.
The export needs 3 steps.
1. Export the data as xml then import to new db.
2. Import blogroll links direct from new dashboard.
3. Transfer images or write a bash script to do it 🙂
