• The error.log file in my wp-admin folder is 103MB. What is this file? Do I need this file? Would it be OK to delete this file?

  • What kind of log lines does it contain? What’s producing the error?

I can’t seem to open it. I’ve tried opening the file through my FTP program, and I’ve tried through my hosting account. A blank document is opens, but nothing else.

It doesn’t seem to be producing an error. It’s just a very large file that is making my backup very large. It raised a red flag for me because my other sites do not have error.logs that are even close to being so big.

I noticed that the error.log file in my root directory is 108MB. So I’m guessing I’d find more large error.log files throughout the entire file structure.

I was just able to open the error.log that I found in the root folder, with a different program. I cannot scroll to the bottom. The program keeps saying “Not Responding”, but the first line was an error from October 2012.
